The Magical Gemstone officially became a business in 2001 as a vehicle for artist Kelley Grimes to showcase her unique hand beaded jewelry for the mind, body and spirit.

Each piece of jewelry is individually hand crafted and one of a kind using the highest quality hand picked semi-precious gemstones and sterling silver and/or vermeil. Kelley creates each wearable piece of art with loving intention and knowledge of the healing properties of the stones.

Kelley shows her beautiful creations at local street fairs, juried artist shows, yoga studios & boutiques, hair salons, house parties and in her own home studio. Her unique and custom gemstone jewelry will soon be available online through magicalgemstone.com and a personal Etsy.com site.

Each original piece of jewelry will be boxed in environmentally friendly packaging and will include a description of the gemstone’s properties as shown on the website.

The Magical Gemstone evolved into a business in 2001. Prior to this evolution, I had been working as a counselor for over ten years and earned a master’s degree in social work.

In the last few years of the 1990’s I had started making jewelry as gifts for family and friends and researching the healing properties of gemstones.

Then in late 2000 my life changed dramatically as my toddler continued to struggle with chronic health problems. At that time I made a major life change and decided to stay home full time to care for my children. This decision became a most empowering and life altering choice.

As a result of this life change, I found more time to work with gemstones and learn deeper levels of their healing qualities while making jewelry. I began to realize I could focus my healing intensions and love for counseling people into each piece of jewelry I made.

I then decided to integrate my need for creative expression and healing intention into the creation of the Magical Gemstone. Stones have been used for healing and adornment for thousands of years. Choosing to work with gemstones and their healing properties seemed a natural extension of my belief system which includes a commitment to healing, respect for the earth, and creating beauty around me.

My goal in jewelry design is to create beautiful, unique, one of a kind pieces that are healing for the mind, body and spirit.
